OCTOBER TREVANO: THE EVENTS

CONVIVIO
The event that kicks off the “Medieval Rites” of the month of October

After having accepted the invitation of the Grand Council to present themselves on the day of the Palio with the best men, the three Terzieri are engaged in a culinary challenge.
A jury of experts decreed the Terziere the winner while the bystanders present taste an itinerant dinner to discover Trevi.

HISTORICAL COURT
A sumptuous procession of figures in medieval costume that winds through the streets of the town adorned with flags, banners and gonfalons.

TERZIERI PALIO
It is a massacring challenge that evokes the tenacity and ardour with which the young Trevani people made their city re-emerge from the destruction of 1214 by the Spoleto people at the behest of Duke Theopoldo. A race against time by pushing and pulling a heavy chariot along a 800 metre route that winds along the ancient walls until it reaches the heart of the city.

CHALLENGE OF SOUNDS
A musical duel involving the groups of the Tamburini dei Tre Terzieri.

The rolling of the drums echoes through the streets of the city from late afternoon, but the best can be heard at the end of the challenge, when in unison, the drummers offer a crescendo of famous music adapted for the occasion, transforming the square into a picturesque saraband.

ARCHERY TOURNAMENT
An unmissable event that sees the best Italian archers challenge each other on targets of various shapes and colours.
Thanks to the passion of some Trevani Archers the city of Trevi has been included in the circuit of the National LAM Medieval Archers’ League Championship.

SCENES OF MEDIEVAL LIFE
Streets, small squares, courtyards and out-of-date corners of the old town centre come alive with hundreds of characters in medieval costume who carry out daily activities of times gone by using techniques and instruments reconstructed in detail thanks to in-depth research.
